Position Title: Certified Payroll Specialist

Position Reports To: VP, Operations

Position Summary

The Certified Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation and submission of certified payroll reports on a weekly basis including collecting worker classification information for each employee in addition to the worker prevailing and fringe rates.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate with regions on projects that are required to file certified payrolls to ensure fair wages for workers on projects funded by the state or federal government.

  • Experience filing certified payrolls under multiple method requirements; LCPtracker, Form WH347, DIR, etc.

  • Work with clients on resolving issues with reporting submission.

  • Run hours worked reports from Workday to obtain required information to file the reports in a timely manner

  • Maintain Certified Payroll log

  • Communicate to each region the status of the certified payrolls to provide the clients with the latest information.

  • Stays current, complies with, and provides interpretations of various rules, regulations, wage and hour laws, contracts, and policies.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of related experience working for a large organization or multi-state employer.

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPS required)

  • Experience filing certified payrolls, prevailing wages (Davis Bacon Act), fringe benefits

  • Experience with union trades, memberships, job classifications, and union rates

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
