We are seeking a New Product Introduction (NPI) and Ops Readiness Program Manager to help us fuel AWS’ explosive growth. You will be responsible for successful enablement of new products into the channel of rack manufacturers. The PM will be the one driving reviews and defining the criteria working with various stakeholders for arriving at agreed set of NPI metrics ranging from design for manufacturing, assembly, test and supply chain. You will ensure the right materials, test scripts, material availability and overall program success to accelerate new product deployment. The right individual will partner cross functionally with hardware engineering, suppliers, design, quality, contract manufacturers, and volume production teams during solution development lifecycle into full production. Possessing strong leadership, influencing skills, and technical depth are critical elements of success for this role. This leader will establish manufacturing standards and publish process control guidelines to assure flawless ramp into volume manufacturing.

We are expanding a group that transforms the way manufacturing is performed in one of Amazon’s market segments. This is an industry shaping group that will lead significant cost and cycle time reduction. We are looking for a Senior Robotics Engineer who is a hands-on individual to design, scale up, and continuously optimize the use of robotics on the assembly and test operations on manufacturing lines. This person will collaborate with AWS's peers in Product Manufacturing and Hardware Eng. to imbue designs with Automation (Robotics) principles applied assembly within internal manufacturing sites. This is a great career opportunity getting in on the ground floor of an initiative that continues to expand globally. This position will be influential in how robotics is implemented, designed and executed starting the beginning of product development through end of life. The person in this position will lead cross functional projects with internal groups and upstream vendors looking at the entire value stream to optimize cost and cycle time for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

· Apply technical knowledge and hand on creation in AWS's Manufacturing sites to develop world class robotic solutions for maximum impact to our customers.

· In depth understanding of relevant safety regulations for use of robotic equipment in close proximity to workers.

· Design or provide input to part design to create the fixtures and equipment for robotic and semi-automated systems to aid in manufacturing at lowest cost and shortest cycle time

· Develop systems and metrics to monitor progress and highlight opportunities of improvement in cost, cycle time, OEE

· Train engineering and operations teams on new processes and techniques

· Conducts Kaizen activities for continuous improvement of cost and cycle time

· Collaborates with cross functional team members to gain knowledge and improve product design, processes, and quality.

· Work with upstream vendors and downstream customers to optimize the entire value stream and put together joint processes that will lead better cost and cycle time.

· Excellent communicator with an ability to concisely and precisely convey information to executives and cross functional teams

· Needs to be an evangelist for teaching Automation to the organization.

· Ability to multitask on several concurrent projects of med to high complexity

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field

  • Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools

  • Proven record optimizing existing and new manufacturing assembly and test processes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
