Responsible for entering all daily charges into practice management system, reconciling missing slip report to ensure all services provided are billed, communicating with exiting patients to schedule appointments, taking payments, and making payment arrangements.

This position functions as a liaison between patients, front desk staff, billing department, physicians, operations managers and third party payors. Reports to billing manger who reviews work for accuracy and compliance to standard procedures. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities.

Understands that employment is contingent upon adherence to HCHN policies and procedures, the mission of the organization, JCAHO policies and procedures, OSHA standards, and other safety and health related codes and laws.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the performance of all activities pertaining to front end billing as evidenced by compliance with the following standards.

• Accurately enters CPT and ICD10 codes from the encounter into the practice management system.*

• Responsible for collecting co-payments and accurately posting payments received from patients into the practice management system.*

• Make payment arrangements with patients.*

• Verify insurance information and patient demographics*

• Responsible for scheduling follow-up appointments for exiting patients.*

• Responsible for reviewing encounters for accuracy and completeness before entering charges into the practice management system.*

• Contacts appropriate departments and eligibility systems to obtain necessary information for billing purposes.*

• Documents the practice management system to reflect current billing status of each patient account to ensure audit trail of all account activity.*

• Accurately and timely enters all encounters, reconciles missing slip reports daily.*

• Responsible for reconciling daily cash according to HCHN cash policy.*

  1. Responsible for patient, payor and employee billing interactions as

evidenced by compliance with the following standards:

• Processes patient, payor, and employee interactions within the guidelines set for the department.*

• Responds professionally and timely to patient calls and third party payor calls.*

  1. Functions as liaison between patients, front desk staff, billing department, physicians, operation managers, and third party payors.

• Communicates with patients account details to facilitate payments, payment arrangements, and other pertinent information for processing claims timely and accurately.*

• Communicates with front desk staff information pertaining to payor and billing department needs.*

• Communicates with billing department information pertinent to accurately process claims in a timely manner.*

• Communicates with physicians regarding completing encounters in a timely manner for processing claims.*

• Communicates with Operation Manager information pertaining to encounter completeness, timely return of encounters, and record control.*

• Communicates with Third-Party Payors to obtain necessary information for accuracy and timely processing of claims for reimbursement.*
