Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality flow control valves, condensate removal traps, and related components for industries such as compressed air, pressure washing, automotive, fire protection, and food service. Headquartered in St. Louis, MO, CD provides innovative solutions globally to OEMs, distributors, and end users.

Summary

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated control systems. This role involves process control, electrical engineering, and equipment design to support manufacturing and ensure projects meet scope, budget, and schedule expectations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Technical Project Development:

  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimations.

  • Design system architecture, including PLC/HMI/DCS systems, I/O, networks, and computer infrastructure.

  • Develop and implement PLC programs.

  • Program and support robotics systems.

  • Create and maintain HMI/SCADA applications and screen designs.

  • Electrical Design:

  • Design and develop electrical control panels and schematics.

  • Specify and implement instrumentation.

  • Troubleshoot complex control systems and provide effective solutions.

  • Equipment Design and Maintenance:

  • Design, build, and maintain assembly and test equipment.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work with project managers, engineers, and team members to align projects with objectives.

  • Regularly update project managers on progress, risks, and costs.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with industry trends and vendor offerings to recommend innovative solutions.

Required Education and Experience

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred (or equivalent work experience).

  • Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Strong understanding of:

  • Process control principles.

  • PLC programming, robotic programming, and industrial network communication protocols.

  • HMI/SCADA development.

  • Experience with electrical control systems design and schematics is a plus.

  • Skills:

  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and trends.
