Job Description:

L3Harris is currently seeking a Senior Specialist, NDI/NDT Field Engineer responsible for the inspection and test of aircraft structures, assembles and components for manufacturing, maintenance, and modification processes.

  • Performs Non-destructive inspections of aircraft, structures, integrated components, engines, support equipment, and specialized equipment as required for the detection of faults or defects using NDT methods and techniques in ET, UT, MT, PT and RT.

  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision accuracy of products and production equipment.Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • Eddy current testing will be the primary method for this role.

    Essential Functions:

  • Available when work schedule requires, ability to travel, work extended hours when needed.

  • Able to work independently and have solution and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to use a wide variety of technical data from OEM manuals to engineering drawings.

  • Ability to work alone or within a group.

  • Good time management and prioritizing skills.

  • Good written, verbal, presentation and virtual communication skills.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree with four (6) years of direct experience to meet NAS 410 Level II requirements, OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, OR in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in following; manufactures manuals, engineering drawings, technical data, specifications, industry standards and company processes and procedures.

  • Position requires an active DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain all required clearance(s). Investigation must have been adjudicated within the past 6 years in order to meet SAP requirements.

  • Must have previously held and or is certifiable to Level 2 NDT per NAS410 in ET, UT, MT, PT.

  • Must maintain flight status requirements.

  • Must be able and open to working no standard hours including weekends as required to meet production schedule, able to support off-site NDI requirements both CONUS & OCONUS as needed with little notice.

  • Must be able to meet NAS410 Level II certification requirements in the following methods: Eddy Current, Penetrant, and Magnetic Particle.

  • Must provide qualification documentation of formal training and previous experience meeting the requirements of NAS410.

  • Able to comply with all safety and physical requirements to access tight fit areas and or confined spaces such as aircraft fuel tanks, working from elevated platforms, ladders and on top of aircraft

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred.

  • Experience SAP computer database experience desired.

  • Previous experience in aerospace structure inspections desired.

  • Estimating and bidding experience desired.
