ROUSH CNC Machinist II - 2nd Shift in Farmington, Michigan

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist II will lead the process of creating low volume and one-of-a-kind parts from a variety of materials. The role will work with customers following projects through multiple phases from receipt of concept to delivery of finished product. The role will utilize 3D CAD modeling in Tebis or Mastercam to support complex customer requests. The CNC Machinist II will use CNC machining, manual machining, and various inspection processes to achieve outcomes. This is a 2nd shift position located in Farmington, MI.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop wire frame and solid models, modify imported models, and edit post processors to suit various equipment using Tebis, WorkNC or Mastercam software.

  • Operate CNC machines, lathes and mills, inspect quality, and make adjustments.

  • Receive and interpret direction in multiple formats: verbal, sketches, prints, Computer Aided Design (CAD) files, solid models.

  • Lead planning and setup of multi-phase CNC machining process including troubleshooting,

  • design changes, and issue resolution.

  • Prep, inspect, finish, and join parts using manual equipment and hand tools.

  • Design and machine fixtures and jigs.

  • Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized state.

  • Submit requests for restocking materials or supplies.

    Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with CNC machine operation and 3D Programming.

  • Experience with 3-axis milling operations.

  • Proficient in Tebis, WorkNC or Mastercam software.

  • Working knowledge of shop tools including bandsaw, sander, drill press and inspection equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of manual grinding (internal (ID)/ (outer diameter (OD), surface grinding, rotary), honing, lapping, mill, lathe.

  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings of three-dimensional parts, edit G & M code using machine controller and use of measuring tools and devices.

  • Ability to use MS Office products and manage files and good communication skills.

    Preferred requirements:

  • Associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing or related field.

  • 5 years of experience with Industry Standard Software applications, such as Tebis, Mastercam, WorkNC, CATIA or AutoCAD.

  • Experience with polymer or metal model making.

  • Experience with 5-axis milling operations.

  • High level of proficiency with Tebis or Mastercam software.

  • Knowledge of model making, mold making, metal fabrication, composites, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), wire and sinker.

  • Good knowledge of manual grinding (internal (ID)/ (outer diameter (OD), surface grinding, rotary), honing, lapping, mill, lathe.

  • Ability to work with all following materials: aluminum, mild steels, medium carbon steel, tool steels, all grades of stainless steels, cast iron, nylon, Delrin, acrylic, copper, brass, and various grades of Phenolic.

  • Ability to learn and use 3D scanning methods for quality inspection.

  • Ability to become International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) certified.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.

  • Certification in Tebis, WorkNC or Mastercam software
