Panasonic North America Staff Functional Safety Engineer in Farmington Hills, Michigan

Overview

Collaborate across departments to create and examine ISO 26262 Functional Safety products, which includes verification review reports. Emphasizing the creation of the Development Interface Agreement document, the Safety Plan, and the development and delivery of safety cases. Leading Functional Safety assessments and supporting process audit tasks is essential.

Responsibilities

YOUR MISSION:

Collaborate across departments to create and examine ISO 26262 Functional Safety products, which includes verification review reports. Emphasizing the creation of the Development Interface Agreement document, the Safety Plan, and the development and delivery of safety cases. Leading Functional Safety assessments and supporting process audit tasks is essential.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Develop and collaborate in preparing Development Interface Agreement (DIA) document in discussion with internal and external team / customer.

  • Ensure safety plan activities proceed according to project milestones.

  • Perform and conduct safety analysis and reviews for HARA, FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, etc.

  • Understanding the safety manual provided by the external vendors for deriving the requirements with respect to the assumed AoU’s.

  • Based on the understanding of safety manuals consume and provide guidance to the team for the implementation

  • Collaborate and provide guidance to systems, hardware, and software teams in implementing functional safety requirements and processes.

  • Plan and support safety validation activities, such as fault injection testing.

  • Analyze and review functional safety requirements, concepts, and test results from vendor-supplied systems

  • Support and organizes the internal and external assessments and audits for project certification.

  • Perform Software Tool development and qualification as per ISO26262.

  • Organizing and managing the meetings required for the project development.

  • Support for the creation and refinement of HSI activities

  • Guidance to tools team to ensure compliance of process implementation with process definition.

  • Compile Safety Case throughout project development process

  • Helps our customers to confidently work with us through process information exchange, quality status reporting, and Functional safety ISO 26262 assessment result discussions with the mission to improve our work products quality and customer relationships.

MUST-HAVES:

  • Four-year College Degree in Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of automotive professional experience in ISO 26262 functional safety development, with Eight (8) years of experience in automotive electronics product design/development including Systems, Hardware, and Software.

  • Profound knowledge of functional safety standard ISO 26262

  • Previous work experience in applying ISO 26262 Functional Safety to automotive products such as cockpit domain controller and ADAS related products.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in functional safety, with Eight (8) years of experience in automotive electronics product design/development

  • Experience with Functional Safety analysis tools such as Medin

  • Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORs

  • Experience in vehicle communication interface like CAN, LIN et

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships across departments

  • Good Microsoft Power point presentation skill

  • Good knowledge of quality management standards like ISO/TS16949

  • Knowledge of automotive SPIC

  • Hold a valid or recent certification credential in functional safety.
