The Registrar's Office seeks a Registrar Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Degree Works scribing and testing as new enhancements are developed. This will entail scribing for new programs, and updating existing requirements approved by Curriculum Committee in the form of curriculum proposals (CCPs).

  • Process Curriculum Committee approved program changes in BANNER.

  • Update student curriculum and catalog changes, review audits for accuracy.

  • Assist with end of term academic processes, graduation and review of Degree Works audits.

  • Assist with maintaining prerequisites both in Banner and in Degree Works prerequisite blocks.

  • Read and respond to Degree Works emails. Correct any scribe issues resulting from inquiries.

  • Process exceptions and monitor exceptions as changes to students' programs develop.

  • Update Registrar Website to adhere to college and federal law policies. Update Registrar forms and post to website.

  • Provides high quality service to campus constituencies by producing timely and accurate data reports.

  • Process student requests, i.e. registrations, withdrawals, changes of personal information, transcripts, readmissions, reinstates, curriculum changes, and enrollment/degree verifications.

  • Provide back-up for phones and may assist with coverage of front desk.

  • Support Admissions, Student Accounts and Financial Aid, as well as other offices that support academics services for students.

  • This position will change or expand as software and new technologies emerge. Special projects or new responsibilities may be assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • The ability to evaluate and logically think through complex program requirements.

  • Ability to start a project and follow through with tasks until goals for each task are achieved. Self-initiator a plus.

  • Technical skills to include use of different platforms.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships which build on trust, teamwork, communication and respect across all offices.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Some programming/coding experience (internship, coursework or equivalent).

  • Experience working with software programs (i.e. MS Office, Word, Excel), utilize online platforms (i.e. applications, data entry databases or other software applications).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one year Degree Works scribing experience or technical skills in a programming environment, or equivalent combination of education, training, internships and experience in a programming environment.

  • Work experience in Higher Education.

  • Experience implementing new software and technology, i.e. assist in the development of data designed to build a software program.

  • Experience using BANNER.

  • Experience understanding graduation program requirements. Read and understand a student's audit.

  • Various Programming Languages.

  • Knowledge of FERPA and other educational regulations.

  • Graduate of Farmingdale State College.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, June 20, 2024, and ending Wednesday, July 3, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Friday, July 19, 2024.

  • SALARY: $50,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $53,400 Total Compensation.
