UnitedHealth Group Director, Strategy and Market Analysis - Remote in Falls Church, Virginia

The Director of Strategy and Market Analysis will lead the strategic and market analytics that advises Optum Serve’s strategy and planning.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s strategic planning process, working closely with senior leadership to define long-term objectives, goals and initiatives

  • Drive strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-range growth and strategic plans

  • Analyze emerging industry trends, opportunities including Mergers and Acquisitions, and competitive landscape

  • Develop market insights and trends customized for OS’s unique combination of capabilities, customers and contracts to enable long-term growth and planning, leveraging general market and strategic intelligence work and tools

  • Manage M&A pipeline for Optum Serve through continuous monitoring of the market, identification/sourcing of new prospects, outside-in analysis, etc.

  • Conduct business performance analysis to track progress against the established strategies and plans, utilizing data-driven methodologies

  • Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to obtain input and alignment on strategy and strategic initiative plan elements (e.g., Growth, Products, Marketing, Business Lines, Operations, Shared Services)

  • Assist with business-level strategy development and execution in support of business growth, ensuring alignment to OS strategy

  • Use relationships, resourcefulness, and solid executive presence to rally the right internal stakeholders and partners across the enterprise to contribute to the initiatives and provide leadership from ideation through to execution, directly supporting OS’s strategy

  • Drive the development of actionable insights and recommendations based on strategy and market analysis, communicating key findings to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Solve highly complex business problems and strategy questions using sound qualitative and quantitative techniques, providing recommendations and results that optimize decision-making and business results

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of management consulting and/or strategy consulting experience

  • 3+ years of experience in leadership role

  • 2+ years of experience in the federal government market

  • Ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage ambiguity

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of mergers and acquisition

  • Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and utilizing analytical tools and techniques to generate actionable insights

  • Proven established track record of leading multiple cross-functional projects and initiatives

  • Proven C-Suite and executive-level engagement and communication skills; proven ability to articulate and deliver clear and concise messages in written and verbal formats

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the federal government market

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership role

  • 2+ years of experience at a top strategy consulting firm

  • 2+ years of experience in merger and acquisition

  • Proven familiarity with the industry and market trends relevant to the organization's mission and goals

  • Experience leading in and successfully navigating a matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated familiarity and experience in applying mathematical and statistical methods to assess risks, forecast growth, and solve business challenges

  • Demonstrated proficiency in building complex data models, and performing data- and model-driven analysis that leads to actionable results

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, DC or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
