Description
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Manages all aspects of Chautauqua County warehouse, including staffing, shipping and receiving, distribution, AIB (American Institute of Baking) food safety and security standards. Works closely with the Warehouse Director to ensure accurate procedures and ordering of food are maintained as well as safety standards and other compliance requirements are followed. May represent FeedMore as an ambassador for the Southern Tier activities and events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and directs the operation of the warehouse by ensuring health standards are met, food is stored properly and edible and non-edible food is separated and maintained in an effective FIFO system.
Oversees accurate recording and reporting of warehouse inventory.
Coordinates volunteers at facility, overseeing specific task and/or projects.
Follows up on orders to include monitoring/changing, adding/deleting or to ensure accuracy and quality.
In conjunction with the Warehouse Director responsible for hiring, training, supervising and evaluating warehouse staff.
On a weekly basis:
- Ensures delivery schedules for all routes are in order - Schedules warehouse staff, including contractors - Documents and communicates inventory variances to Buffalo Warehouse Manager & Warehouse Director.
GENERAL OPERATIONS:
Provides excellent customer service, ensuring that all donors, agencies, and volunteers are served promptly, efficiently, equitably and courteously.
Assists management in future planning efforts of the organization.
Operates vehicles in a responsible and safe manner, assisting with deliveries as required.
Supports FeedMore WNY’s organizational mission to fight hunger among the less fortunate.
Assists with all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to, serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off-site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals.
Assists with other duties and projects as requested.
SHIPPING AND RECEIVING:
- Ensures all orders for the following day are staged, checked and prepared including freezer and cooler items.
SANITATION:
Supervises sanitation of the warehouse (including freezers, coolers, offices, exterior of the building, and restrooms) in accordance with the Feeding America’s member compliance standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and statures relating to the receiving, storing, processing, handling, and shipping of food products.
Oversees AM/PM and rodent report.
Oversees daily/weekly and biweekly cleaning schedules and fire extinguishers.
PERSONNEL AND SAFETY:
Tracks and schedules staff compliance and safety information e.g. certifications, and related license renewals.
In conjunction with the Warehouse Director and Chief Operating Officer, performs employee performance reviews, addresses employee issues and completes corrective action documents etc. in a timely manner.
Enforces FeedMore safety manual procedures and guidelines to ensure 100% compliance with OSHA and related safety regulations.
Cross-trains staff and self to fill in for temporarily vacant positions.
Schedules workflow throughout warehouse (from receiving, selection, driving, volunteers, outbound, etc.).
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Associates Degree in Facilities or Management or related area preferred with 5-7 years required experience in facilities management
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the operation of motor vehicles including at least 2 years of diesel truck driving and forklift experience.
A valid Class B NYS Commercial Driver’s License maintained in excellent standing
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Inventory software
Ability to safely perform tasks involving heavy lifting
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
Excellent analytical skills
Must be able to exercise good judgement
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to quickly and decisively evaluate alternative solutions
Prior customer service experience
Experience and has been successful in working in a team-oriented and/or collaborative work environment
Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision and take initiative in problem-solving
Ability to travel to the main Buffalo facility as needed
Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
Valid Class A NYS Commercial driver’s license
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Salary Description
$26.50/hr. *Bi-weekly Pay Periods
