    LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O'Connor Road, Fairport, NY 14450; Various Locations

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Month, Full Time Position: 7:00am - 3:00pm

STARTING DATE: December 2024

STARTING RATE: $18.92 per hour

*Actual salary is dependent on education, experience and contract.

DUTIES:

  • Performs a wide variety of tasks of ordinary difficulty relating to the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades; including but not limited to:

  • Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of electrical fixtures, equipment and systems.

  • Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of plumbing equipment faucets, sinks and flush-o-meters ; Performs a wide variety of soldering, brazing and welding, sheet metal fabricating or machine shop activities;

  • Mixes and lays cement and concrete for walks, steps, floors and foundations, plasters walls, partitions and ceilings, cuts stone, lays bricks and blocks, and performs a wide variety of related masonry and stone cutting activities;

  • Prepares, paints and refinishes wood, metal and other surfaces;

  • Installs, maintains and/or repairs upholstery, glass, clocks and other miscellaneous items;

  • Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of heating and air conditioning equipment and systems;

  • Installs and repairs carpet, floor and ceiling tile, insulating materials, and roofs;

  • Installs, repairs and maintains pumps, presses, furnaces and other waste water equipment; Assists in the operation of chemical feed system;

  • Snow removal, early morning call-in, removal of snow throughout the day using shovel, snow blower and plow truck.

  • May be required to complete daily reports.

  • Required to perform other related maintenance functions as required.

  • Adhere to safety practices and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Civil Service eligibility asMaintenance Mechanic I: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part– time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one (1) or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.

NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year-for-year basis.

  • Complete knowledge of building construction common practices, terminology, and safety precautions.

  • Good personal verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good attendance and self-directed worker.

  • Display a positive attitude.

  • Able to work from plans, specifications and rough sketches.

  • Able to follow written and verbal communications.

  • Five years’ experience as a skilled Carpenter.

  • Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling

  • Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, and/or reaching.

  • Transporting tools, equipment and supplies to job site
