Job Description

Avery Dennison, Graphics is seeking a Quality Manager to join the Divisional Team in a regional role that is based out of the Fairport Harbor Manufacturing Facility.  In this role the Divisional Quality Manager will lead the Divisional Graphics Quality team to deliver world class quality enabling growth in a fast paced high value segment.  The manager will provide leadership across all activities impacting quality in the design of the product partnering with R&D and commercial teams along with consistency in manufacturing partnering directly with the quality teams based in operations.  This role also leads the Graphics and Window Films claims processes.   

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a high performing team at the divisional level which includes: 

  • Engineers focused in the areas of operational quality improvement, design claim improvement, R&D project support and vision system qualification and system management 

  • Divisional claims team to ensure timely and accurate processing of customer reported issues on Graphics and Window Films products, communication and feedback to the sites and/or suppliers, initiation and approval of the CAPA process 

  • Perform leadership duties, exercising usual authority concerning Team, performance appraisals, promotions and performance management. Responsible for training and developing employees, estimating resource/labor needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies

  • Lead strategic Planning and execution of Graphics Quality initiatives that link overall business growth needs with customer CTQs and operational excellence by partnering with site quality managers, R&D and marketing 

  • Autonomously own our claim handling processes and continuously improve these processes to deliver higher levels of internal and external Customer Satisfaction

  • Owner of Graphic’s divisional quality metrics and reporting for North America and the global scorecard

  • Key team member of the Graphics Leadership team  

  • Serve as the primary liaison to North America Graphics quality for all Intercompany customers - this includes but not limited to monthly quality reviews 

  • Act as the divisional MOC/ TOD approver for quality 

  • Lead cross functional business claim reviews for trends in all categories of claims 

  • Managing the commercial HOLD process in partnership with marketing and supply chain for Graphics products 

  • Lead Graphics Divisional MDI process across all site operations, division and tech leads 

  • Quality stakeholder and approver for R&D project Technical Reviews and Stage Gate Reviews aligning on actions for escalated customer issues 

  • Partnering with R&D to scope and resource projects to improve Graphics overall quality and enable growth (for instance entry to OEM market for automotive) 

  • Owner of the Graphic’s Warranty Process, updates and evaluation as required 

  • Travel estimated to be around 20% between various manufacturing sites, suppliers or  customers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent required

  • Minimum 7 years industry experience required

  • Minimum 3 years leading people

  • Experience in a leadership role within a Quality, Operations or R&D environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  

  • Actively seeks knowledge, skills and experience in order to grow and develop

  • Good trouble-shooting/problem-solving and mechanical ability

  • Achieves goals with minimal direction

  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving experience

  • Demonstrated leadership capability including prior experience with direct report or ability to influence without authority 

  • Must be able to actively contribute in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal. 

  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office 

  • Previous Quality or Research and Development lab experience preferred

  • Certified Quality Engineer or ASQ affiliation preferred 

  • Six Sigma certification preferred
