Job Description:

Lead a team of PLC controls engineers that design and implement electrical controls systems for automated material handling equipment. Participate in PLC code development to ensure standards are followed. Meet with both client and internal project teams to define applications. Review proposals, statement of work and customer specifications for automated material handling projects and products. Develop resource planning and forecasting to support in-house and field PLC code development project phases. Coordinate departmental work to meet project schedules. Assign PLC controls resources to projects. Generate project specific documentation using standard company formats. Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for design reviews prior to application code development. Participate in design review meetings with electrical engineering. Identify customizations to standard PLC software components within requirements of each specific project or product. Perform PLC software code reviews and participate in design reviews with project teams. Work closely with PLC controls engineers & software engineers to integrate controls solutions. Scheduling, mentoring, reviewing, planning, following standards/procedures, developing, and documenting standards, reporting status to engineering management. Create new PLC programs for real-time control of automated equipment and collection of diagnostic and production data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PLC systems into mechanical equipment. Advise mechanical designers as to equipment requirements to aid PLC designs. Create and maintain Ladder logic programming for new products. Create new PLC programs, methods, and standards. Troubleshoot and debug PLC programs to ensure proper functionality. Perform on-site technical system audits and product testing.

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.

Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience within the material handling industry using conveyors.

Three (3) years of experience engineering PLC programming high-speed merges, inductions and gap-optimizers and loop sortation and sorting equipment. May have been gained as part of or in addition to the material handling industry experience.

Additional experience must include:

  • Performing electrical troubleshooting of 480vac, 120vac and 24VDC systems using multimeters.
  • Industrial control systems including PLC and HMI systems. 
  • Ethernet/IPCommunication Networks
  • AS-Interface (ASi)Communication Networks
  • Integrated Motion control utilizing CIP Motion via Ethernet/IP
  • Distributed I/O modules including Turck & Allen Bradley
  • Safety PLCs and Safety I/O Utilizing CIP Safety
  • Safety PLCs and Safety I/O Utilizing AS-Interface (ASi Safety)
  • AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical 
  • Allen Bradley PLC/PAC Standard & Safety Controllers
  • Allen Bradley RSLogix5000/Studio 5000
  • Allen Bradley Factory Talk View Studio
  • Allen Bradley Stratix Ethernet Switches (5700)
  • Motion control networking utilizing Ethernet/IP with managed switches
  • Allen Bradley Kinetix 6500, MPL Servo Motors setup, configuration & parametrization
  • Powerflex 525, 527 setup, configuration & parametrization
  • Powerflex 755 w/scaling, tuning, setup, configuration & parametrization
  • Vector Motor control, including open loop vector and closed loop vector w/dynamic braking.
  • Servo Motor control, utilizing CIP Motion
  • Reading and understanding system layouts, schematics, and other controls system drawings
  • Project scheduling
