Job Title: Assistant Controller

Job Description

Oversee the accounting functions for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliations and variance analysis. Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Report results to the CFO, including various monthly/quarterly data requests and analytics, and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting functions for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

  • Report results to the CFO, including various monthly/quarterly data requests and analytics, and ad hoc reporting as needed.

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to streamline operations and improve financial efficiency.

  • Lead and mentor accounting teams across different entities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, coordinating with external auditors and tax consultants as needed.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights and business analytics that support strategic decision-making.

  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability and growth.

  • Work with the CFO on budgeting and forecasting.

  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.

  • Conduct risk assessments and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Ensure systems of internal controls over financial reporting are in place and functioning properly.

  • Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Work with the company’s auditors on annual audits and special projects.

  • Provide leadership on the integration of various back office financial functions, systems, and processes to improve efficiency and consistency across the business.

Essential Skills

  • Strong accounting skills with GAAP knowledge.

  • CPA certification required.

  • 5-7+ years of experience with cash flow statement review and trial balance manipulation.

  • Heavy Excel experience.

  • Experience reviewing reports and giving suggestions.

  • Strong communication skills to interface with leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification required.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting, financial consolidation, cost accounting, and intercompany transactions.

  • Expertise in GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in financial reporting software.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage remote teams.

  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Advanced Excel skills including experience creating financial models.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

This position will be bonus eligible up to 10% and will receive company benefits. That is including: vision, medical, dental and a 401k as well.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Fairfield,NJ.
