Data Architect – Snowflake

Our work depends on a Data Analyst Sr Advisor joining our team to remotely support Medicaid.

At GDIT, our people are at the center of everything we do. As a Data Architect – Snowflake, a typical day will include:

  • Architect, design, and implement robust data solutions using Snowflake, supporting Medicaid compliance and population health analytics.

  • Develop and maintain data models, architectures, and frameworks that align with both business and regulatory requirements, with a focus on scalability and performance.

  • Collaborate with business leaders, data engineers, and analysts to translate reporting and analytics needs into a well-architected data ecosystem.

  • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations (including HIPAA), with a focus on safeguarding sensitive Medicaid data.

  • Lead the design of ETL/ELT processes that support efficient data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and transformation in Snowflake.

  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes, ensuring fast query performance for complex Medicaid reporting and analytics use cases.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams, including code reviews, architectural best practices, and cloud-native design principles.

  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies that enhance data architecture, performance, and security in a Snowflake environment.

  • Documenting and communicating reporting requirements, rules and methodologies for data collection and analysis.

  • Recommending changes to the overall system or network to ensure service to the customer.

  • Models and evaluates the potential impact of data changes.

  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and as directed function in a project leadership role.

  • Analyzes organizational data and conducts advanced statistical analysis.

  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Models and evaluates the potential impact of data changes.

  • Develops innovative strategies and quantifies the competitive performance of the organization's operations and/or markets.

  • Coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: BA/BS with 12 years of experience, or MS/MBA with 10 years of experience

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture and database design.

  • Expertise in Snowflake Data Cloud, with a deep understanding of its architectural patterns, scaling, and performance optimization.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modeling for large-scale environments, including data lakes and data warehouses.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid data, healthcare analytics, and population health datasets.

  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and experience designing pipelines for large-scale data processing.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and integrating Snowflake within multi-cloud environments.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH).

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and understanding of Medicaid reporting requirements.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for creating data models that drive insights.

  • Knowledge of advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning and AI, as applied to healthcare datasets.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience working with JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint

  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations

  • Experience in methodologies and processes for managing large scale databases

  • Ability to manage time effectively, to work under time pressure, to meet schedules and deadlines, to multi-task, to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments and pay close attention to detail

The likely salary range for this position is $138,859 - $187,867. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
