FAIRFAX COUNTY Behavioral Health Specialist II- Supportive Residential Community Services in Fairfax, Virginia

Job Announcement

Youll be a part of a team of diverse professionals providing case management, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling. Completes Medicaid and other billing documentation, manages a caseload which includes adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring disorders (including substance use and intellectual disabilities), provides clinical assessments, and performs treatment planning and community integration activities. The work schedule is between 9am-5:30pm and this position requires some evening availability based on client's needs. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position is located at the Sharon Bulova Center, in Merrifield, VA.

  • *The Behavioral Health Specialist II position includes a signing bonus for new merit county employees in the amount of $2,500 (full-time).

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling, or a related field, plus 1,500 hours of clinical experience;

ORa bachelors degree and a valid QMHP certification plus 1,500 hours of clinical experience;

ORa masters degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling, or a related field plus 500 hours of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or the equivalent in another State) at time of appointment and maintained throughout employment with CSB.
  • MANDT Certifications within three months of appointment and annually thereafter;
  • First Aid and CPR certification, within 90 days of appointment and maintained throughout CSB employment;
  • Medication Administration Assistance Certification within 90 days of appointment;
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional Adult (QMHP-A) - within 1 month of appointment

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders in the community.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional Adult (QMHP-A) certification.
  • Licensed or receiving supervision towards licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the following:
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
    • Licensed Professional Counselor,
    • Licensed Clinical Psychologist,
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,
    • Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or
    • Clinical Nurse Specialist.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to quickly respond to a crisis, physically support clients, walk stairs, lift light to moderate loads, work directly with clients teaching independent living skills.Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Independently travel to various sites, transport clients using the county vehicle, and attend meetings and trainings within and outside the county. Ability toread data on computer monitor, operate keyboard driven equipment, to include accessing, inputting, and retrieving computer data.All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
