JOB SUMMARY Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and cosmetic repair and maintenance of electric and internal combustion lift trucks, various material handling equipment, and other related equipment primarily in a supervised shop environment. To provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

· Perform quality scheduled maintenance, new equipment installations, approved modifications, minor/major equipment overhaul, paint job, condition assessment and rental truck preparation following policies and procedures in a timely manner.

· Effectively analyzes problem situations pertaining to breakdowns of customer equipment and recommends action necessary to correct situation.

· Exhibits a professional demeanor, promotes goodwill between the company and customers by providing a superior level of customer service.

· Observes, analyzes, and determines corrective course of action for service and repair of customer equipment.

· Performs necessary repairs to correct analyzed situations in a professional and productive manner.

· Prepares necessary documentation relating to each repair in a neat and accurate manner.

· Follows safety rules and ensures that hazardous waste is disposed of properly.

· Account for 100% of paid time.

· Rebuild and repair components.

· Perform parts and supply look up and ordering.

· Provide sanding, lubrication, operational testing, and minor welding within capabilities.

· Responsible for keeping work area clean and free of clutter and keeping personal/shop tools clean and in good repair.

· Responsible for following Carolina Handling’s safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing all repairs.

· Performs factory-authorized modifications per specifications.

· Provide field service support.

· All other duties as assigned or required.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS TO BE CONSIDERED

· High school education, plus one to three years mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education.

· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, management, and co-workers.

· Ability to read and interpret schematics.

· Ability to read and understand necessary service and training manuals.

· Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or demonstrated instructions.

· Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

· Ability to maintain a good understanding of industry innovations and product availability in order to make recommendations based on customer need.

· Ability to effectively utilize volt, ohm, and multi-meters.

· Demonstrate a good mechanical and electrical aptitude.

· Ability to safely operate drills, grinders, presses, forklift, hoists, overhead cranes, and personal hand tools.

· Ability to draw upon available support resources from within the company and recognize when it is appropriate to do such.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position works in a shop/warehouse environment. This position is frequently exposed to oil, grease, and dirt; extreme seasonal temperatures and outdoors with exposure to elements; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. This position is occasionally exposed to working conditions involving elevated work. There is potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, harmful and/or corrosive chemicals, and risk of electric shock if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels vary but are usually in the moderate to high range.

This position also entails the necessity to occasionally work after normal working hours or on weekends based on customer’s needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is a heavy work position, requiring the ability to operate machinery and/or power tools, and heavy equipment; walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling to accomplish tasks; moving from one worksite to another; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers to operate machinery, tools, computers, and handle materials; communicate with customers, both internal and external, by telephone using good articulation and voice control. The ability to constantly move objects up to 25 pounds; frequently move objects up to 50 pounds; and occasionally move objects up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to focus.
