POSITION SUMMARY
Since the doors opened in 1972, our Atlanta factory has grown dramatically into a state-of-the-art facility. With sustainability and safety at the forefront of our minds, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Friskies®, Purina ONE®, and Pro Plan®. Our factory does our part for the environment by conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, maintaining zero waste for disposal and more. This plant location is situated along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta—an area that nearly 6 million residents and many of our associates call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast, and together, we contribute to the growth of businesses and population, building the city's strong logistics, entertainment and film, and health services industries.
As a Safety Specialist, you’ll assist the Safety Manager with the implementation of policies and programs to guarantee compliance with Nestlé Purina PetCare “Safety” Programs and Loss Control objectives. Lead safety trainings and ensure proper communication at all levels of the plant to achieve full preparation in the Safety and Health programs and compliance with Federal, State, and Local Government regulations. Make an impact on our processes as you act as a resource to all departments to provide safety and loss control support.
Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies (including federal, state, and local legislation and regulations).
Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommend changes to continuously improve site SH&E performance.
Routinely walk projects, contractor work sites, and areas where maintenance is being performed to ensure safety compliance per OSHA regulations.
Evaluate compliance with PPE requirements, oversee contractor trainings, and review safety paperwork (hot work permits, confined space permits, daily checklists, etc.).
Administer training programs associated with safety and health.
Collaborate to foster and develop a culture where safety and health are ingrained as a core value within all associates and departments.
Conduct and coordinate monthly fire extinguisher, first aid cabinet, spill kit, and safety shower inspections.
Requirements
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2+ years’ experience in Safety in a manufacturing, warehouse, military, or other equivalent environment.
The approximate pay range for this position is $59,000 to $91,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
