Product Line Manager

We are seeking a Product Line Manager (PLM) to be based in one of Curtiss-Wrights Defense Solutions US facilities.

As our Product Line Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of the entire C5ISR product line and be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific product lines, subject to your expertise area – networking, FPGA, Processing, DSP, GPU.

The ultimate measure of success would be the return on investment for the product lines you are responsible for, with supporting success metrics that include design wins, bookings and revenue generation results that align with forecasts.

As the overall technical and product subject matter expert you will also support Marketing and Sales on defining and maintaining the Product Roadmaps for the portfolio.

Your Challenge:

  • Responsible for the commercial success of the product lines, overseeing them from inception, through design, build, launch, growth, enhancement and eventual sunset. By intimately understanding the target market needs, solution gaps and requirements, you will deliver market, customer and product requirements to engineering/product development teams so they can execute on a product solution.

  • Ensure that the final product provides market differentiation through features, price, services, support or other key customer value propositions, to increase the probability of win.

  • Develop and implement strategies for existing and new products and prepare business cases that include Return On Investment (ROI), pricing, profit margins, forecasts for bookings, revenue, and design wins, while ensuring a good competitive and differentiated value proposition is being offered through competitive, market and industry research.

  • For new products and new generations of products, the PLM is responsible for preparing the presentation packages for the Stage Gate reviews required to gain the approval to proceed by the R&D Review Committee.

  • Provide Engineering with well-defined market, price, cost and product level requirements and support them in the technical implementation of the product to ensure that it will meet the market needs.

  • Oversee the product development to ensure that Time to Market (TTM), Design to Cost (DTC), development cost and ROI are maintained throughout the development phase.

  • Work with Engineering leads and CTOs to determine technical solutions to emerging market needs including; feature sets, technical specifications, Design to Cost targets, pricing, TTM and related activities

  • Manage the ongoing health of the product line through regular sales forecasts, pricing adjustments, margin monitoring, market driven enhancements and design win forecasts.

  • Seek out and develop partner relationships to increase the value proposition of both your products and the overall solution for Curtiss-Wright

  • Provide systems analysis of customer requirements and provide technical and marketing input on proposal responses.

  • Develop comprehensive product introduction plans to ensure the value proposition of new products is communicated and customer awareness is maximized.

  • Provide prospects and customers product line subject matter expertise via Sales

  • Support Marketing content creation and product line positioning – including Roadmap presentations, White Papers, seminars, articles, product value propositions.

What You Bring:

  • A relevant Hardware/Software Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience

  • A relevant business degree, or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in Product, Program and/or Engineering Management, or Product Marketing

  • US citizenship and be resident in the US

  • US security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to Secret level within 24 months

  • The ability to understand target market needs and drive the creation of innovative and differentiated products that solve customer problems and support their success

  • A detailed knowledge of our technology, system architecture, hardware, software and related support requirements within the Defense and Aerospace markets.

  • Insights into relevant product line technology and industry standards

  • Insights into relevant software including product software enablement and system level software requirements.

  • Had success in identifying business opportunities and developing their potential

  • A good understanding of product, market & marketing strategy development

Skills

  • Ability to establish genuine and strong relationships with customers, sales and co-workers to strengthen business ties.

  • A highly motivated self-starter with an attention to detail

  • Strong business acumen and a keen understanding of the business implications to technical decisions

  • Familiar with some, or all the following technologies:

  • Intel, Arm and Freescale processors and single board computers

  • FPGA and GPU processing technologies

  • Ethernet network switching and routing technologies as applied to embedded systems

  • VME/VPX/XMC form factors and VITA standards including SOSA, CMOSS

  • Real-time operating systems, including working knowledge of Linux and VxWorks

  • Safety Certification – DO-178 and DO-254

  • Exemplary analytical skills and fluency with Microsoft Office tools

  • Experience with business analytical tools such as Microsoft Power BI

  • Must be willing to travel frequently both domestically and overseas in support of customers, sales and business development.
