Department Summary:

The Tactical Air Dominance Department (N151) is transforming warfighter operations by accelerating the fielding of advanced families of weapon systems through digital acquisition, advanced simulation and emulation, resilient communications, and autonomy experimentation. Our work programs contribute to the United States Air Force Operational Imperatives where we are enabling the warfighter to execute current and emerging kill chains effectively and efficiently in highly contested environments. Our department is seeking candidates with knowledge and interest in mission engineering, modeling and simulation, and operational analysis. In this role you will work across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) sponsors to shape and cohere effects chain and operational analysis efforts. Successful candidate(s) will understand end-to-end mission effects chains, including the underlying sensing, command and control, fires, and logistics, and how these variables would be employed in the mission-effects chain. Successful candidate(s) will implement and lead mission engineering, modeling and simulation, and operational analysis efforts to provide data driven

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and execute complex models and apply advanced analytical techniques within large-scale systems of systems architectures.

  • Apply Modeling, Simulation, Analysis and Digital Engineering concepts and practices to our sponsor and partners’ most critical challenges.

  • Apply data analytics and visualization techniques to inform decision makers of influential alternatives within a trade spaces

  • Accelerate transformational capabilities to the warfighter through prototyping, experimentation, and outreach to the operational community.

  • Work with teams to produce hands-on prototypes that support data-driven recommendations that lead to , impactful results

  • Collaborate with other engineers across MITRE in order to coordinate development efforts, bring the expertise of others to bear on projects, and ensure common standards of product quality

  • Apply best practices in order to develop new or existing analysis, derive results, and form actionable data-driven recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Develop presentations and present analysis, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.

  • Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.

  • Strong interest in aircraft system design, ballistic missile defense, aircraft integration, space system design, and/or weapon systems engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented software languages (Java, C++, etc.), schema-based languages (JSON, XML, etc.), and/or scripting languages (Python)

  • Familiarity with system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Cameo, Rhapsody, AFSIM, etc.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Committed to continuous learning, innovation, and engineering excellence.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.

  • Solid understanding of MBSE principles

  • Demonstrated experience with systems engineering lifecycle activities (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, sustainment) for DoD Sponsors.
