Full Time,Day Shift Varied

Oversees the 24/7 operations of multiple imaging modalities within a diagnostic imaging department, including managing staff of imaging technologists, coordinating imaging procedures, ensuring quality control, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety regulations, all while prioritizing patient care and optimizing operational efficiency. Reports to Director of Diagnostic Imaging.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years Direct experience

  • Associates Degree required, BS Degree preferred

  • MIRT License

  • ARRT registered

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Must have one or more professional imaging certifications

  • CPR certified within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for delegating, developing and implementing imaging procedures, and overall efficiency, productivity and quality of work performed.

  2. Coordinates department activities including budget development, equipment quality control, ordering of supplies, and department performance improvement.

  3. Supervises lead technologist and directs technologists and support staff. Ensures work schedules are adequate to ensure proper staff coverage within budget constraints. Communicates and enforces section policies and procedures. Interviews and hires prospective staff. Reviews job performance, disciplines and if necessary, discharges non-performing staff. Engages in conflict resolution.

  4. Ensures that imaging services has adequate training materials relating to protocol and application / software updates. Updated policy and procedure manuals as appropriate to comply with industry standards for the applicable imaging modality. Clinical practice & policy and procedures must be in line with best clinical practice and standards.

  5. Ensures that job descriptions are accurate and up to date; responsible for timely completion of performance appraisals, licensures, and competency assessments for all staff. Oversight of staff time away, overtime and shift work. In partnership with Human Resources ensures that policies and procedures are followed, taking corrective action as needed.

  6. Works with physician leadership and department leads to formulate or revise imaging protocols and in specifying procedures utilized in the production of images in alignment with best practices. Ensures that all protocols are regularly updated and that all changes are communicated to imaging staff. Engages in effective change management. In conjunction with Director of Imaging, develops annual budgets and monitors performance against budget.

  7. Forecasts operating budgets and revenues for new fiscal year based on actual experience while developing opportunities for increasing volumes and reducing costs. Manages budget by identifying variances and taking corrective action to realign section performance with budget plan.

  8. Responsible for maintaining operational performance measurements. Conducts periodic team meetings to review performance targets and benchmarks as well as other improvement processes. Delegates responsibility for process quality and efficiency to a Department Leads as needed. Defines and maintains quality and efficiency performance information for Leads and front line staff in the Imaging Department.

  9. Engages with external contacts including, but not limited to, physicians, physician office staff, outside healthcare providers and organizations, vendors, and leaders from other healthcare facilities/organizations.
