This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units.
Organization & Team Overview
The West Division IT Network Engineering team collaborates with the business to create world-class solutions to improve the customer experience. Work with network engineers across the country to support the office enterprise network for Comcast offices in the West Division. Work with other IT team members locally and remotely to maintain network systems.
Role Description
Are you interested in solving challenging problems in a highly technical field? Are you a creative problem-solver? As a Network Engineering Intern on the IT Network team, you will be called upon by a team of network engineers and other IT professionals to help maintain the network infrastructure and implement solutions to support ever-changing employee needs.
What are some interesting problems the student will work on?
In this role you will support fellow network engineers by helping to deploy network hardware, triage network issues, and utilize tools to maintain network services across hundreds of routers and switches. You will gain skills and insights in software and utilities used to manage and automate network functions across the enterprise.
Where can this student make an impact?
You will partner with IT professionals across the organization to constantly improve the Comcast employee experience. New ideas are encouraged to ensure issues are resolved quickly and the impacts from incidents are minimized.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working with other network engineers to implement changes to the Enterprise Network.
Support network projects and tasks.
Troubleshoots and resolves basic network and wireless connectivity issues with IT support technicians and/or end users.
Use business writing skills to maintain and update incident ticket documentation as well as existing procedures and process documentation.
Perform Moves/Adds/Changes for network equipment and patches to network equipment. Includes assigning IP addresses/ports and port configuration.
Maintains all network and team key performance objectives.
Ensure on-time task completion and identify conflicting priorities to management.
Create and maintain all project-related documentation and report on projects as required.
Dispose of obsolete network equipment following Comcast’s policies and procedures.
Reacts to alerts from monitoring tools.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Skills
Strong troubleshooting methodology
Written and verbal communication
IT skills and experience preferred:
CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent experience
CCNA, CCNP (preferred, not required)
Knowledge of network protocols and wireless network technology
Familiarity with Arista, Aruba, Cisco , Juniper, and/or Opengear network hardware
Scripting languages such as Python
Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Information Technology
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
Rising Junior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2026 - Spring 2027)
Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating)
Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025
Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Salary:
Base Pay: $28.00
