Job Description Summary

The Advanced Product Development (APD) Section is inventing the future of flight and advancing propulsion capability for the next generation of military applications. APD’s focus is the design, integration, testing, and support of advanced technologies for new and derivative engine concepts. Technology areas include military inlet & exhaust systems, integrated propulsion power & thermal management systems, advanced material systems, and other breakthrough component and system technologies to support the future of military flight.

The APD Operations Staff Engineer will manage operations of the APD Design section. This role includes Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibility leading the Earned Value Management (EVM) for an Integrated Product Team (IPT). In this role you will drive initiatives to improve the effectiveness and integration of engineering functions and provide effective coordination of execution metrics and functional processes. A successful candidate is expected to use principles outlined in FLIGHT DECK to enhance management processes. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.

This is the ideal role to connect technical experience with business acumen. This role provides exposure to Edison Works and customer processes - positioning for possible career growth in people or technical leadership. Due to security requirements this position requires a full-time in the office schedule.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Operations Management of the APD Engineering section.

  • Control Account Manager - creating and providing status of module budgets and program progress.

  • Develop ROMs and Proposal input as necessary for program planning/management.

  • Continuously improve the section's management system using FLIGHT DECK - GE Aerospace's proprietary Lean operating system.

  • Represent the APD Design Section in operational forums with other operations teams, including at the division and department level.

  • Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

  • Demonstrate influencing skills, both programmatic and interpersonal, to explain difficult or sensitive information & build consensus.

  • Apply understanding of business drivers to prioritize and execute assigned objectives.

  • Understand how team objectives integrate and contribute to the larger business strategy.

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • Prepare and present program data to customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

  • At least 5 additional years of experience in a relevant Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering position.

  • Must hold or have ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
