GE Aerospace Senior Staff Engineer - Joining in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The GE Aerospace Senior Staff Engineer – Joining demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will train to become a Certifying Agent for the Special Process Technology Center (SPTC), primarily for joining processes, including new make and field repair. You will also integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, lead medium size projects, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Job Description

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with maintaining, updating, and developing related Special Process Technology documents (e.g., P-Spec, QCWI’s, Audit Checklists) related to joining.

  • Identify, lead, and implement cost reduction projects involving welding.

  • Establish brazing procedures for New Product Introduction (NPI) hardware and support manufacturing source changes.

  • Capable of leading root cause corrective action investigations and driving error proof solution implementation.

  • Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvement projects aimed at decreasing cycle time and improving first time yield for brazed components across the GE Aerospace Supply Chain using lean and six-sigma tools.

  • Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment.

  • Interface with design and material application engineers to provide design for cost and producibility guidance.

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior leadership within GE Aerospace.

  • Perform audits of GE shops and suppliers to GE Aerospace and NADCAP requirements and lead corrective action implementation for any audit findings.

  • Fulfill the job responsibilities of a Certifying Agent and assist Supply Chain sources in solving production issues related to joining.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Ability to travel domestic and international, as required

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in practical/hands on manufacturing experience in joining processes experience experience) + Minimum of 5 years of practical/hands on manufacturing experience in joining processes experience
