Job Description

Oregon Allergy Associatesis looking for an experienced candidate to join their dynamic team of health care providers. If you are an energeticCertified Medical Assistant (CMA)who would like a unique opportunity in a well-established specialty clinic, then this is the position for you.

In this role, you will work closely with your Physician/Advanced Practitioner in a team approach. Patient visits are currently documented using a scribe model which allows for staff members to become much more knowledgeable about the disease processes impacting allergy patients, and the appropriate treatment plans to impact their lives in a positive way. Assistants in this office are very hands on, performing the majority of the in-house procedures for the health care provider.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and work well with both patients and coworkers. They will be a team player, ready to step in where needed and show flexibility during busy times. They should take the initiative to identify and address needs, and offer feedback and suggestions for improving workflows and processes.     Pay: $21 - $27 per hour DOE

    Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Essential Job Functions

  • Attends work regularly and on time.

  • Maintains effective interpersonal relations with team members, supervisors, and patients.

  • Rooms patients within 4-6 minutes, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction, and ensures timely starts to patient visits.

  • Effectively communicates with the care team to ensure the flow of patient care is successful.

  • Captures and accurately documents vitals (blood pressure, temperature, weight, height, O2, pulse).

  • Reviews and verifies patient medications and allergies, updating records as needed.

  • Performs intake functions by pressing the intake button and verifying the date.

  • Captures the patient’s chief complaint and enters it into the electronic health records (EHR) system.

  • Completes chart preparation, including pulling Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) reports and preparing consents.

  • Assists with patient discharge, including providing an after-visit summary.

  • Completes room turnover processes, including cleaning and restocking.

  • Stocks examination rooms and notifies supply personnel when items are low.

  • Assists provider with minor medical procedures (sterile setup, take-down, auto-claving).

  • Independently performs EKGs, injections, vaccines, ear irrigations, CLIA waived tests (e.g., UA, Strep, Flu, COVID, HCG), PKU, Hemocue, and lab draws.

  • Performs controlled medication tasks independently.

  • Makes complex phone calls requiring skilled communication and decision-making.

  • Trains other Medical Assistants and completes special projects to support Praxis Health’s improvement.

  • Completes other tasks as directed by the supervisor or ACA.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).

  • Certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), or a diploma from an accredited vocational institution, community college program, or equivalent.

    Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but we value experienced candidates and offer comprehensive training and support.

    Other Requirements:

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Up-to-date health records, including appropriate immunizations for the healthcare field (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).

General Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, bend, twist, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.

Work Environment:

Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.
