Position Summary

The role of the Associate Director of Administrative Services is crucial to the smooth functioning of the business college. This position involves overseeing all human resource and compensation-related functions, providing vital support in delivering human resource services, and supervising the college faculty support service teams. In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Finance & Administration, the areas of HR responsibility encompass managing employee search, hiring, and onboarding activities; overseeing faculty, staff, and student compensation programs; implementing employee engagement initiatives; managing employee retirement and general exit processes; as well as handling faculty promotion, retention, and renewal processes. Additionally, the role involves communicating, implementing, and training on University human resource policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

In terms of Administrative Services, the responsibilities include supervising faculty support and administrative services team members, coordinating daily operations and workflow, developing and disseminating schedules and operating protocols for academic support, administering the administrative services and office supplies budgets, and overseeing the hiring, training, and development of administrative team members.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Finance & Administration and requires exercising independent judgment and decision-making in situations that demand tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality. It also entails maintaining a professional atmosphere for the college.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience totaling nine years.

• Five years of experience that include a combination of using payroll systems of varied frequencies, compensation management, managing recruiting and search procedures, and accounting related to annual planning and budget oversight.

Professional Competencies

• Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making in situations that require tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality.

• Excellent leadership skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Must take the initiative to build professional relationships with faculty, students, and staff within the business school and University Human Resources, as well as other University departments. Must be able to represent the college in a positive manner both internally and externally at all times.

• Strong supervisory skills; able to hire, train, and take corrective action for performance issues.

• Strong organizational skills and capacity to work independently and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service.

• Ability to maintain professionalism at all times with respect to sensitive human resources issues.

• Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to inspire and work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, alumni, and staff.

• Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Word, Banner financial systems experience a plus.

• Strong reconciliation skills and experience with complex compensation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building employee engagement programs.

• Experience in higher education.

• Experience with databases management, and reporting.
