Director, Application Architecture

The Director, Application Architecture is responsible for establishing and driving activities that contribute to planning, budgeting, resourcing, creating, and implementing an IT vision and strategy for technology aligned with ADM Applications’ Platforms strategic business plan. This position will influence the development, implementation, and support of core solutions as well as the transition of legacy applications to the strategic platforms utilizing staff, managed or outsourced services and/or Software as a Service (SaaS) providers. This role will play a key role in our Applications maintenance and driving efficiencies for cost optimization and decision making to ensure new platforms are designed within a repeatable framework.

Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for someone to define, own and build an Operational Excellence and Applications Maintenance function for the Applications Operations organization. You will be responsible for building our platform strategy as well as influencing a global team. Our Applications Operations organization is responsible for maintenance of the global Applications ecosystem supporting the steady state operations as well as growth of ADM globally across various lines of businesses,

We are looking for someone to lead this function and team with the support from Senior Global Technology Leadership for execution and implementation of your strategy.

In summary you are

  • Establishing a Center of Excellence for technical practices in applications as well as applications job processes management

  • Experienced in application modernization processes, P2C (Prem to Cloud) migration, database health and archive management, as well as software engineering and infrastructure know-how

  • Responsible for cross-functional collaborations and liaising with Infrastructure & Operations Engineering group, Enterprise Architecture, and our Information Security Groups to align strategies

  • Building strong relationships with operational leaders through comprehensive, effective communications, actionable information delivery with a focus on strategic investment and expense management

  • Directing and managing assigned resources to support the effective execution and management of the Platform systems

  • Constructing and managing Strategic Operational Roadmaps for our applications highlighting needs for maintenance, modernization, enhancements, and retirement

  • Maturing our application decommissioning processes

  • Collaborate and participate in MADJV activities to strengthen our application landscape

  • Responsible to manage and drive reduction in vulnerabilities

  • Engaging Senior IT leadership, both technical and managerial, for review of architecture and standards. Collaborates with leaders, architects and partners across the organization from a strategic and tactical perspective to produce & support quality software

  • Providing overall leadership and technical guidance to assigned project teams

  • Creating an environment where team members are motivated to perform

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven management experience building and leading platform engineering organizations

  • 10+ years overall information technology experience

  • 7+ years in application, data, integration, or strategic architecture

  • 12+ years of experience working on high-availability, distributed platforms.

  • 12+ years supporting global production platforms.

  • Experience defining a platform strategy from the ground up.
