DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Security Officer 1, you will be responsible for patrolling the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home to protect and guard our property, facility, and population from fire, theft, trespass, or other hazards.  This professional is responsible for monitoring the camera system, patrolling the grounds to ensure overall safety, and preventing unauthorized persons from loitering on grounds or entering building or storage areas.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are exercised to assist visitors, residents, and staff by answering telephones and providing directions and information.  Additional duties include conducting investigations and searches, and providing various transportation needs for residents and the facility.  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are utilized to complete daily reports of activities at the end of each shift.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Part-time employment, 8 hours/day totaling 40 hours/biweekly. Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch. First week of work includes Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Second week of work includes Sunday and Monday. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
