JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Residence Life Office is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team. This position is responsible to the Assistant Director of Residence Life for assisting with the supervision and administration of the Residence Life program serving approximately 1600 students. This is a live-in position and responsibilities include supervising, counseling, conflict resolution, program development, fostering community, promoting an academic connection, facilities management and the administration of the University student accountability process.
The Assistant Coordinator will serve as part of the on-call duty rotation and assist in departmental initiatives including RA Recruitment, selection and training, and be highly involved in administrative tasks. The Assistant Coordinator may oversee and supervise the daily operation of a residence hall, including the direct supervision of up to 8 Resident Assistants (RAs).
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. This is a 20 hour a week live-in position.

Residence Life Responsibilities
Administrative:
Work with members of the Residence Life team to design, facilitate and evaluate staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training sessions.
Attend and participate in weekly Residence Life meetings and Student Affairs Divisional meetings as scheduled.
Meet regularly with supervisor.
Review staff reports; plans and conduct weekly staff meetings.
Supervising/Development:
Provide direction to 8 Resident Assistants in on-going community and academic development
Assume an active and visible role in the on-going developmental process of individual residents to support their academic success.
Hold students accountable for their choices through the University conduct process.
Mediate room conflicts that escalate beyond the RA level.
Promote community development and pride.
Programming:
Develop programs and activities consistent with the philosophy of residence hall living.
Motivate RAs and community members to plan and implement programs that meet student needs and interests based on the programming model.
Collaborate on newsletter and digital publications.
Operations:
Open and close area(s) at the start and end of each semester and at breaks, as needed
Monitor cleanliness of the building(s) and work closely with Housekeeping and Housing and Food Services to address issues as appropriate.
Coordinate Health and Safety inspections, monthly fire drills, and provide feedback as appropriate.
Personnel:
Participate in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of student staff.
Contribute to the professional and personal development of Residence Life staff.
Work closely with other members of Residence Life, Student Affairs and the Division of Student Services including participation in office, division and university-wide committees as appointed.
Serve as part of the on-call duty rotation.

Assume other duties as assigned by supervisors.
