Robert Half Patient Access Specialist in Emeryville, California

Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist in Emeryville, California. The individual will be instrumental in managing patient admissions and registrations, ensuring accurate handling of payments, and compliance with billing requirements. This role involves understanding health insurance coverage options and providing exceptional customer service to address inquiries and concerns.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately handle and record payments collected during point-of-service delivery.

• Develop an understanding of different health insurance coverage options and related processes.

• Address routine patient escalations and perform service recovery as necessary.

• Collaborate with team members to escalate advanced or complex registrations.

• Greet patients and initiate the registration process, maintaining professional communication with various stakeholders.

• Meet weekly productivity and performance indicators while prioritizing tasks as directed by department leadership.

• Provide excellent customer service to all individuals encountered during the course of duties.

• Perform a combination of responsibilities across all areas of Patient Access Service operations.

• Utilize skills such as Patient Access, Patient Account, and EpiCare Inpatient to perform responsibilities effectively.

• Commit to providing an exceptional patient and family experience, embodying the standards of interaction that form the foundation of patient-centered care. Requirements • Proven ability in handling patient access tasks in a healthcare setting

• Proficient in patient account management, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality

• Experience in checking patients in and out of medical facilities

• Familiarity with EpiCare Inpatient software, and ability to use it effectively

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

• Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare protocols

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure

• High level of empathy and understanding, with a patient-centered approach to work

• Commitment to maintaining the highest level of patient confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines

• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
