Description
We are currently looking for a meticulous, detail-oriented Medical Records Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, retrieving, and maintaining patient medical records in a secure and confidential manner. You will ensure that all health information data is complete, accurate, up-to-date and processed in a timely fashion. This will involve utilizing electronic health record systems and ensuring compliance with applicable health regulations.
Responsibilities:
Compile, process, and maintain medical records in a healthcare setting in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Use classification software to assign clinical codes for insurance reimbursement and data analysis.
Electronically record data for collection, storage, analysis, retrieval, and reporting.
Protect patients’ health information for confidentiality, authorized access for treatment, and data security.
Implement and manage medical document filing system.
Assist in conducting regular audits and compliance training programs.
Regularly communicate with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses, ensure records are accurate, and resolve discrepancies.
Evaluate the accuracy of health data that is used in research, quality management, and patient care improvement efforts.
Requirements
Associate's degree or certification in Health Information Technology or related field.
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) may be required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records maintenance in a healthcare setting.
Proficient in medical terminology, coding, and health record procedures.
Working knowledge of medical recordkeeping procedures, methods, medical charting, and terminology, as well as electronic health records.
High levels of organization, communication, and multitasking skills.
Excellent knowledge of data processing systems and procedures.
Familiarity with laws related to health information and confidentiality.
Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy are essential.
Familiarity with ICD and CPT codes is preferred.
