Grifols Diagnostic Solution is seeking a Director, Diagnostic (DX) Finance Industrial in Emeryville, CA. This position will be reporting to the Vice President, Diagnostic Controlling. The Director, DX Finance Industrial will lead global FP&A Industrial activities for the Diagnostics Division and will support the SVP for Manufacturing Operations and the Industrial teams. The Director, Dx Finance Industrial will manage the accounting activities of various partnerships. The Director, Dx Finance Industrial will have financial responsibility over 6 plants and a team of 6-8 controllers.

Primary Responsibilities for the role:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead global manufacturing, quality and facilities financial planning and analysis processes for all Dx plants (currently 6 in Spain, USA, Australia and Switzerland), including preparation of monthly and ad hoc reporting packages that track, monitor and analyze performance against plan and key operational performance metrics, long range plan, budget, forecast and R&O updates.

  • Provide dedicated financial support to Plant Heads, lead financial reviews at monthly management meetings, lead monthly Controllers’ calls.

  • Provide robust challenge to the business during planning processes to ensure budgets and forecasts are reasonable. Advise on key business planning assumptions, resource allocation and related trade-offs and opportunities.

  • Lead oversight of financial audits of manufacturing processes or partnerships.

  • Manage all accounting activities for the Joint Business with partner companies. Interact with client companies over planning and analysis of the partnership results.

  • Support global Diagnostics Capex planning and analysis process, in conjunction with Capex office in Barcelona.

Business Support:

  • Provide financial modeling and analytical brainpower for new Industrial businesses or strategic initiatives as the case may be, supporting investment/divestment decisions.

  • Drive assessment of cost efficiencies and operational effectiveness.

  • Own financial management of key partnerships. Be a standing member of the Joint Business Finance Committee.

  • Provide timely and articulate communication to Industrial personnel on financial processes and systems to ensure costs are correctly captured, budget assumptions are reasonable.

  • Work closely with the business to assist in the control and optimization of inventory levels, manufacturing/scrap costs, and supply chain expense.

  • Coordinate with Corporate functions (Procurement, Facilities, IT, etc.) to ensure reasonableness of services and allocations.

  • Lead or support strategic and non-organic growth projects on a case by case base (acquisition and integration of new businesses, divestiture and separation of existing businesses, system implementations).

Financial Systems:

  • Improve systems used to plan, capture and analyze manufacturing expenses, lead on costing methodology across the business unit.

  • Proactively identify and develop efficiencies and quality improvements concerning capturing, analyzing reporting financial data.

  • Work with IT to ensure systems are configured to meeting the changing structure of the business unit.

General:

  • Lead and develop Industrial Finance organization (currently 6-8 individuals, 6 plants)

  • Master and improve financial controlling systems (SAP) across Diagnostics plants

  • Continually improve the quality of the service provided by the Diagnostics Finance function.

Education

MBA or Master Degree in Finance required; proven experience in lieu of Master degree is accepted

Experience

10+ years of relevant experience with an MBA or Masters Degree in Finance.

5+ years of people management experience.

Equivalency

Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.

Occupational Demand

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations, frequently travels within the United States, occasional international travel. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.

Pay Scale

The estimated pay scale for the Director, Finance Industrial role based in Emeryville, California is $200,000 to $250,000. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company bonus pool. We offer a wide variety of benefits including, but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, up to 5% 401(K) match and tuition reimbursement. Currently, the first year PTO accrual for this role is 120 hours per year. Then, after completion of 365 days of employment PTO accrual for this role will increase to 160 hours per year. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
