BeiGene Associate Director- Global Program Finance Lead (GPFL), R&D Finance in Emeryville, California

General Description:

The GPFL will provide key business partnering support to BeiGene’s Research & Development Programs. This role is an individual contributor based in US or China and will repot into the Executive Director of R&D Finance. This is an important member of the R&D Finance Team. The candidate will serve as the team consolidation role and Program/Molecule lead providing finance decision support to our clinical product teams.

The Associate Director will Lead Clinical consolidation (close and forecast) and be a Program Finance Lead, partnering with Global Product Teams (GPT), Global Clinical Program Lead (GCPL) and Global R&D Sourcing (GRDS) team to provide financial leadership to our Early Phase programs including but not limited to governance support, planning/forecasting, month/quarter end close and provide strategic decision support to program/trial level valuation and scenario analysis.

The ideal candidate will have either biopharma experience with an understanding of both R&D or investment banking or consulting background, working in a global environment, and driving agile business process improvement initiatives with a clear ROI/organizational benefit. The role is expected to be a hands-on and valued partner that provides analytical and strategic support to the clinical program teams, can influence and challenge business assumptions and works closely with senior functional management to support high quality decision making while adhering to budget guidelines. Successful candidates should have a strong understanding of the mechanisms of financial reporting, accounting and financial systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the role will collaborate closely within and across global teams (Greater China, APAC, US and EU).

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Lead External Clinical consolidation on monthly close, quarterly forecast, and related activities including quarterly external audit support.

  • Global Program Finance Lead for some Early Phase programs, including monthly close, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budget, quarterly forecasting, and reporting.

  • Support Anaplan monthly accrual and quarterly forecast processes.

  • Provide support to Portfolio Team Lead on portfolio and financial governance (R&D Funding Pool tracking and update, Quarterly Business updates, meeting preparation, etc.)

  • Provide support to Clinical Supply Chain Demand & Supply analyses, Financial Excellence, and portfolio level projects/work for overall team performance.

  • Support portfolio level strategic decision making, including but not limited to valuation & prioritization, scenario analysis modeling, and development plan strategy.

  • Proactively identify, design, and implement enhancements to existing sourcing and governance processes to drive enterprise efficiency and resource optimization.

Education Required:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in financial planning role, preferably in pharma or biotech organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.

  • Strong planning, reporting and analytical skills with demonstrated business and systems proficiency in previous roles.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong computer software skills (Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience using financial systems, including skill with ERP and budgeting tools (e.g., TM1, Hyperion, Adaptive, etc)

Travel: Minimal travel throughout the U.S. may be required if the new hire is in US.
