About the Job:
Work with the Nevada Exploration team to evaluate various mineralization styles including Carlin-type gold prospects and generate drill targets. Conduct RC and core hole logging and interpretive updates. Monitor drilling progress and communicate with drillers. Map and interpret key structural, stratigraphic and alteration features to develop vectors and advance targets. Collect and evaluate geochemical and geophysical data to support target generation. This position reports to the VP Nevada Geology and works closely with the Exploration and Mine Geology teams.
Essential Functions:
Work safely, minimize environmental impacts, and comply with all Calibre policies.
Tablet-based geological mapping and interpretation.
Rock chip and soil sampling and data compilation & analysis
Terrapsec sampling and data analysis
Assess geophysical data (magnetics and gravity).
Target generation, target ranking, and drill target selection.
Geological mapping and interpretation, including field validation of previous mapping.
Oversee and guide field work of 2-4 seasonal geology contractors.
Support drill programs with drill supervision and RC chip & core logging.
Drill data review including QAQC.
Develop a comprehensive knowledge of regional geology and mineralizing controls.
Communicate progress/results via daily, weekly, monthly verbal/written reports and presentations
Collaborate with the exploration team to optimize efficiencies, spend, and new opportunities.
Agile thinking, able to quickly evaluate and apply new data and concepts.
Write monthly reports and provide interim presentations of key results/programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a BSc degree in Geology required. Higher level education in Earth Sciences is preferred
1-10 years of exploration and resource development experience, preferably with Carlin-type gold systems in Nevada. Proven discovery history and ability to work independently and mentor others is desired for more seasoned candidates.
Open pit or underground mine experience is beneficial but not required
Field experience in mapping, soil and rock chip sampling is strongly preferred
Experience supervising RC or core drills and logging holes is preferred
Knowledgeable in data management, QGIS/ArcGIS, geological modeling & target generation
