Position: Entry Level Utility Crew

FLSA Classification: Hourly

Position Status: Full-Time

Reports To: Leach Pad and Utility Supervisor

Summary of Position

The Entry Level Utility Crew member at the Pan Mine is responsible for performing a variety of mine site labor and physical related tasks in both the Mine and Processing Departments as required, in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.

Essential Functions

  • Receive daily helper/labor assignments to assist assigned departments as directed.

  • Assist with completing pre-shift inspections

  • Specific duties related to the Leach Pad:

  • Moving, bolting and fusing 4” to 20” pipe

  • Assist in lifting spools

  • Install drip lines

  • Ability to communicate using radio and hand signals

  • General and basic physical labor activities

  • Sample, load and deliver blast hole sample bags

  • General clean-up and housekeeping duties as required

  • Skills with and ability to use a variety of hand tools

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in all weather environments and meeting all physical requirements as outlined on the Physical Demands Analysis form.

  • Ability to work assigned shifts and in all weather conditions

    Experience and Training

  • Prior labor entry level position experience in an open pit, heap leaching processing mine is preferred

  • Ability to operate small equipment including but not limited to skid steer, telehandler, and company pickup truck required

  • Safely and efficiently and with minimal supervision required

  • Current MSHA 5000-23 certificate of training preferred

    Work Environment

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, hot and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When in the field, appropriate hearing protection may be needed.

    Safety

    Expected to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in a production environment (Hard Hat, Steel Toed Boots and Reflective Visible Clothing/Vest) or as required for the specific job duty. Must be able to wear a respirator to perform specific job duties by utilizing a ½ or full-face respirator. Be alert and observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Assure that appropriate task training has been completed and documented for all equipment, vehicles, and systems
