Elmira College Assistant Director of Admissions in Elmira, New York

Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Admissions.The Assistant Director of Admissions will recruit and advise prospective undergraduate students to Elmira College. This position includes extensive recruitment travel and the ability to interview prospective students, conduct presentations, and review and process applications for students from a specific geographic territory including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware. The Assistant Director maintains responsibility for geographic territory, including oversight of inquiry and applicant statistics and cultivating relationships with students, parents, school counselors, faculty, staff, and alumni. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills are necessary for success in this role. This position requires occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMaintain responsibility for geographic territory, including oversight of inquiry and applicant statistics and cultivating relationships with students, school counselors, faculty, staff, and alumniExtensive recruitment travelApplication review and scholarship considerationDevelop and maintain individual recruitment files/recordsTelemarketing and social media initiatives with prospective studentsAssisting prospective students and families with admission and financial aidParticipate in on-campus and regional college eventsIndependent management of admission programsAbility to conduct oral presentations about Elmira College to a variety of constituents, including prospective students and parents, school counselors, and college personnelQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree required3+ Years’ experience preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to represent the college in a professional manner in interacting with students, parents, alumni, school counselors, and much moreProficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new database administration software systemsDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentIndividualized travel at least 8-10 weeks per year, and ability to work occasional evening and weekend hoursValid driver’s licenseWORK LOCATION: On-site with travel requiredCOMPENSATION: $60,000 starting salary.
