Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the the ITT- Information Ticket and Travel Office. This position is also Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility. Responsibilities Works directly for the Director, Information, Tickets and Travel office in providing information and tickets to the Elmendorf community. Routine work is performed independently. The supervisor check the work to insure compliance with procedures and directives. Responsible for the resale of tickets and providing information on leisure travel, local tours and events. Provides travel information and arranges accommodations for tourists: Answers inquiries, offers suggestions, and provides descriptive literature pertaining to trips, excursions, sports events, and plays. Discusses routes, time schedules, rates, and types of accommodations with patrons to determine preferences and makes reservations. Duties may include checking flight, hotel and cruise ship availability. Activities typically include: selling holiday and travel products to customers; meeting sales targets as set out by the travel office manager; dealing with complicated customer itineraries; handling customer orders and payments; liaising with tour operators and other key partners such as hotels and airlines regarding bookings and schedules; undertaking general administration; advising clients about passports, vaccinations, visas, foreign currency, travel insurance, car parking, car hire abroad and excursions in resorts; dealing with complaints; using and updating IT skills, since information on holiday packages and bookings is usually accessed via a network; organizing displays of promotional material. Attending events established by the 3 FSS marketing office. In the absence of the director may supervise and review activities of workers and delegate responsibilities to other workers. Assists director in procuring tickets from local vendor and maintaining inventories of tickets. Accomplishing daily reports required by regulation and guidelines ensuring accuracy. Helps with creating and organizing marketing and promoting travel, local and general events and ticket sales. Qualifying Experience: Experienced computer ability to generate daily information, ticket sales, and other materials. Computer experience which demonstrates ability to use computer in word processing, excel and access. Ability to operate a Point of Sale computer. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Writing and verbal skills required to deal with the public and relay information to the customer and supervisor. Experience which demonstrates people skills in customer service setting. Having prior work experience is an asset. Ability to work independently. Have a practical knowledge of the local and general travel industry rules, regulations and procedures is desirable. Strong interest in training/coaching subordinates in travel industry. Travel consultants need to be outgoing and approachable, with excellent customer service skills. Must be well-organized, accurate, detail-oriented, professional and courteous. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
