Interior, US Fish and Wildlife Service Maintenance Worker in Ellsworth, Nebraska

Summary This position is a Maintenance Worker, WG-4749-8 working in Ellsworth, Nebraska for the R6-Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge. This position is at the full performance level. Responsibilities As a Maintenance Worker your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Performs routine preventive maintenance on heating systems and refrigeration and air conditioning units without more than normal supervision. Operate heavy equipment within accepted parameters (e.g., narrow quarters, such as close to buildings, drop-offs or other obstructions and challenging field conditions such as marshy, unsteady or steep surfaces). Repair, maintain, or operate a variety of equipment, hand and power tools or test equipment as needed. Operate power tools, including: handsaws, power saws, power planers, plumb bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, lead pots, pipe threaders and cutters, soldering irons, electrical circuit testing equipment and gas and electrical welders. Follow safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
