System One Business Systems Analyst in Ellicott City, Maryland

Summary:

The main function is to analyze science, engineering, business and all other data processing problems for application to electronic data processing systems. Responsible for analyzing user requirements, procedures and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Gather requirements from business units and translate those to programmers and developers.

• Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on system implementation.

• Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs.

• Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and so information can be shared.

Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

• Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time.

• Basic knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of drawings and models.

• Basic knowledge of computer software, such as Visual Basic, Java, SQL, etc.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required or equivalent work experience required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.

• 3-5 years experience required.

Position Title: Business Systems Analyst - Contractor

Position Location: Fully remote - if they are in Auburn Indiana hybrid (Wednesday collaboration day)

Ability to work remote: Yes, 5 days a week

Acceptable time zone(s): prefer EST/CST

Working Hours: 9:30-5:30 EST - core hours - flexible

Travel: rare if at all

Days of the week: M- F 40 hours

OT: no

Intended length of Assignment: 9/23/2024- 3/31/2025

Reason for open position: additional need

Initiatives/Projects: For the Tempus Reporting and Analytics team to generate required monitoring and alerting capabilities for systems capacity and stability

Impact/Function this role has within the bank/LOB: Improving efficiency, increasing revenue

Industry background: technology background required, banking is a nice to have

Roles and Responsibilities: identify a new metric that the team wants to start digging into, identify stakeholders and personnel and meet with them to determine what events they would need to look for, deem what is an acceptable performance threshold, what is a cause for concern and when would they want to set off an alert - sift through the data and make sure the alerts are set to be triggered in accordance to business requirements - stand ups 3x a week, additional meetings specifically around monitoring and alerting

Must Have Technical Skills: listed in order of importance

ElasticSearch

Kibana (particularly alerting capabilities)

Ability to present information visually and construct a narrative through graphs, charts, and trendlines

Jira

Confluence

Flex Skills/Nice to Have:

Vega and/or Vega-Lite, Ability to use webhooks to integrate with services like MS Teams, PagerDuty, or Opsgenie

Soft Skills:

    Bachelor's degree preferred but looking for relevant work experience - Elastic Certification nice to have
