Job Summary

The Inbound DC Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all inbound logistics and warehouse operations within the distribution center. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth receipt and storage of goods, DC space capacity execution, product replenishment, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The manager will lead a team of supervisors and warehouse associates, develop, and refine inbound processes, and monitor performance metrics to enhance operational efficiency.

Job Details/Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of supervisors, team leads, warehouse workers, equipment operators, wave planners and other support staff.

  • Set and monitor performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and feedback to team members as needed in support of talent development.

  • Ensure proper resource staffing levels to meet operational demands

Inbound Operations:

  • Oversee all aspects of inbound logistics, including receiving, inspection, put away, product consolidation and inventory control.

  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to maximize productivity while minimizing errors.

  • Coordinate the unloading and inspection of incoming shipments.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with the inventory control team to ensure accurate inventory counts and reconciliation.

  • Implement strategies to optimize inventory storage and minimize carrying costs.

Quality Control:

  • Maintain high standards of product quality and accuracy during the receiving process.

  • Implement quality control processes to identify and rectify quality issues and follow requirements on the TMC Quality System processes for the distribution center.

Performance Metrics:

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inbound operations, such as dock to stock, product consolidation, replenishment, and productivity.

  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and cost reduction.

Supplier Relations:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve inbound shipment discrepancies and quality issues.

  • Ensure timely communication and coordination with suppliers to meet inbound shipment schedules.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and TMC company policies.

  • Collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety team to conduct safety training and audits to maintain a safe working environment.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the budget for inbound operations, including labor, full time and temporary contractors, and operational expenses.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-control measures as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong familiarity with use of an automated ERP system for processing, inquiries, report creation, investigation and troubleshooting of warehouse issues.

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks.

  • Understanding similar warehousing/logistics systems.

  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to prioritize and effectively execute multiple different activities in a high-volume distribution environment.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration required or equivalent combination of education, background and experience; Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience in outbound logistics and distribution center management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • 7 years of experience in an automated warehousing/distribution environment, regulated industry strongly preferred.

  • SAP warehouse system working experience preferred.

  • Certification in supply chain management or logistics (e.g., CSCP, CLTD) preferred.

  • Experience with lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement preferred
