High School Spanish Teacher

Location: Elkhart, Indiana

Position: High School Spanish Teacher

Employment Type: Full-time; Contract Position for full 24-25 School Year

Reports to: Principal and Assistant Principal

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Spanish Teacher to join our dynamic educational team in Elkhart, Indiana. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the Spanish language, a deep understanding of Hispanic cultures, and the ability to engage and inspire high school students in their language learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet state standards and cater to a diverse student body with varying levels of Spanish proficiency.

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to design and refine the Spanish curriculum, incorporating modern teaching methods and resources.

  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and active learning.

  • Assessment: Create and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.

  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in language instruction.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Encourage and support student participation in extracurricular activities related to Spanish language and culture, such as language clubs, cultural events, and study abroad programs.

  • Compliance: Ensure all teaching practices comply with state educational standards and school policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Certification: Valid Indiana teaching license with a Spanish endorsement.

  • Experience: Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.

  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.

  • Technology Skills: Proficient in the use of technology for instruction, including language learning software and online resources.
