County Of Sherburne Assistant County Attorney - Civil in Elk River, Minnesota

Job Summary This Assistant County Attorney position will be assigned to the civil division. Duties include the provision of legal advice to county agencies (act as general civil counsel) and to handle court and administrative actions in which the County of Sherburne has an interest. Sherburne County Attorney's Office is seeking a motivated candidate to join our team. The civil division attorneys handle a variety of areas with the development of a subject matter expertise. We seek an individual who desires to work in a collaborative environment. The Office invests in training and professional growth. Our new Courthouse and office are in Elk River, Minnesota; close to the Twin Cities providing access to all of the amenities but foregoing the traffic. Come grow with our dynamic community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These examples of typical duties do not include all possible tasks for this classification and do not limit the assignment of related tasks. Regular attendance according to the department's approved work schedule is required for all Sherburne County positions. Provide written and oral feedback to county agencies with documentation of the file. Write pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filed documentation. Handle cases before the Sherburne County District Court, magistrates, and administrative law judges. Analysis of rules and regulations and the impact on county agencies which may include real estate transactions, joint powers agreements, grant agreement, etc. Review contracts, policies, and protocols for the county and its agencies. Collaborate with others in effective problem solving and analysis of legal and risk issues. Participate in groups and committees that are multi-disciplinary. Provide coordination and collaborate with and between the county and outside agencies. Other duties as assigned by the County Attorney or Lead Criminal Attorney. The County Attorney's Office has cross over cases between the civil and criminal arenas which will be a part of any caseload.
