On this team, we shape the next generation of data solutions at Apple by working on innovative technologies and solutions for the BPR Insight team. We are responsible for the manufacturing and supply chain data collection and reporting for all of Apple’s products around the world. You will build/support systems that every iPhone, iPad and Mac have interacted with. Apple’s engineering and operations teams will leverage your platform to build the next great product. Insight team is looking for an exceptional "DevOps Data Engineering Manager" to lead our platform engineering team. This role demands a self-starting, ambitious individual who excels in collaboration and innovation while focusing on developing and leading teams that build scalable data pipelines and applications. Description

•Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers in designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines & applications. •Collaborate effectively with engineering, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality projects. •Architect scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions using modern technologies and best practices, including effective monitoring and alerting. •Drive innovation in data processes to optimize data flow, reduce latency, and enhance data quality, while also improving application responsiveness. •Stay updated on emerging technologies, recommending new tools and practices as relevant. •Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering expertise, at least four of which in a lead or management role.

  • Strong expertise in Big Data Platform development in Public Cloud (such as AWS, GCP, Ali Cloud, Tencent Cloud, etc.) with large-scale datasets

  • Strong distributed systems design and engineering background.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide teams through ambiguous and complex technical challenges and develop people.

  • Passion to collaborate and iterate on ideas in a cross-functional team including product designs.

  • Passionate about operational excellence through methodical root cause analysis, automation and engineering processes.

  • Superb problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex concepts in digestible ways and partner with less technical teammates.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or relatable field or equivalent work experience.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience in designing and developing cloud-based applications that include large-scale compute services, database services, APIs to RESTful services, ETL, queues, scheduling, integration and notification services.

  • Strong experience with Python, SQL, Java / Scala and ETL tools like Apache Spark, Airflow and Kubernetes. Familiarity with additional technologies such as React, Node.js, and Go is a plus.

  • Strong technical aptitude and curiosity and thrives in mastering new tools or applications through self-study.

  • Ability to partner with multiple product and business stakeholders to prioritize and align on the roadmap.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work in a self-directed environment, and the ability to present to senior management and engage across timezones.

  • Experience in people development and/or mentoring technical engineers

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $171,400 and $257,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
