Burlington Territory Director of Field Operations in Elizabeth, New Jersey

As a Territory Director of Field Operations, you will lead a team of Regional Managers and oversee the operational execution across more than 250 stores, collaborating closely with the Territory SVP and Regional VPs. This role sets the standard for operational excellence in the field and serves as a key strategic partner for field leaders to drive store performance. You will be accountable for achieving operational KPIs and for the effective adoption of new processes and tools. Your responsibilities will include ensuring sustained improvements in areas such as customer service, expense management, scheduling, receiving, and cashiering. As an expert in Burlington’s operations, you will serve as a critical liaison between the home office and the stores, and coordinate with functional partners from HR, Supply Chain, Asset Protection, and Real Estate. The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver, coach, influencer, and communicator with experience in store operations and field management at a national scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and planning : Lead operations planning for Territory in partnership with TSVPs and RVPs. Identify opportunities, develop business cases, create execution plans and manage change. Contribute to operations strategy and planning across the chain.

  • Change management : Oversee and facilitate program launches and operational tests in stores. Coach field leaders on implementation, assess results, and identify improvements.

  • Operations excellence : Represent process standards in stores and guide on-process execution. Deliver operations KPIs to goal from back of the house efficiency to sales floor productivity and cashiering speed. Teach RVPs/DMs to diagnose operation issues and solve them.

  • Cross-functional collaboration : Engage closely with Field, HR, AP, Supply Chain, and other functions to help stores operate at their best. Represent field operations in company-wide initiatives, such as new store system projects and talent development programs.

  • People development : Train, coach, and performance manage teams and mentor talent in operations roles. Establish internal processes to foster professional growth and capability development to create a high-performing organization.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, Retail Management or related field and at least 10 years of Retail Operations Management experience within a multi-site environment. Candidates should be comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office programs and be familiar with computerized reporting software. Travel is required to all markets within designated Territory
