Robert Half Temporary Payroll Specialist in El Segundo, California

Description We are in search of a meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our logistics team based in El Segundo, California. The individual will be tasked with ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll and maintaining robust internal controls and audit trails. This role is a contract employment opportunity, which will involve acting as the primary point of contact for payroll and time and attendance inquiries.

Responsibilities:

• Assigning new employee IDs and maintaining employee payroll records in various company databases by entering salary, exemptions, bank deposit deductions, voluntary deductions, and other relevant information.

• Maintaining strict confidentiality and providing employee payroll-related information only as authorized to support business decision-making.

• Reviewing recorded hours and following up with managers and employees on timecard discrepancies.

• Conducting reconciliations of regular and overtime worked, paid and unpaid-time-off taken, against payroll reports on a biweekly and monthly basis.

• Reconciling W-2s annually and processing bonuses, special payments, and employee garnishments.

• Maintaining multi-state tax rates in ADP and managing state tax accounts.

• Tracking employee training hours in the relevant system and compiling and filing various regulatory labor payroll reports.

• Providing backup to the Receptionist, and performing clerical and other duties as assigned. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in payroll management, preferably within the logistics industry

• Proficient in HR Payroll Systems

• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, and benefits

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred

• Previous experience with international payroll processes is a plus

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Professional certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)) is a plus

• Experience in handling audits related to payroll

• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and software applications related to payroll processing.
