The Embassy Suites Los Angeles International Airport South is currently hiring an energetic and experienced Engineer for our PM shift. This role is responsible for responding and attending to guest repair requests, maintaining guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel, in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?
As an Engineer, you would be responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel, in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Communicates with guests to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
- Performs maintenance on guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas.
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Visually inspects tools, equipment, or machines.
- Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio).
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings.
- Assure each day’s activities and problems that occur are communicated to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
- Display proficiency in any one of the following categories, above average skills in two more of the following categories and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
- Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
- Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe (including soldering).
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
- Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
- Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area.
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
- Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
- Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility including, but not limited to, guest rooms, public space and heart-of-the-house areas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
- Related Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance
- At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- License or Certification: Valid Driver's License
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFO) Certification
- CPR Certification
- Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
The pay range for this position is $22.00-$28.00 per hour and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
