Description:

The Trade Compliance Manager - US & Canada will provide strategic and operational leadership and expertise to ensure compliance with US and Canada import, export, and supply chain security laws and regulations. Responsible for overseeing and executing daily US and Canada trade compliance operations for Copeland Electronics & Controls. Will provide guidance to foreign affiliates concerning US and Canada import, export, and supply chain security requirements. This key role works cross-functionally to broaden awareness of the trade compliance program, to maintain strategic direction, and to align with Copeland Corporate International Trade Compliance guidelines and the changing regulatory environment. Must be able to accomplish a high volume of tasks under time constraints and must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.

As a US & Canada Trade Compliance Operations Manager, you will :

  • Monitors and communicates applicable regulatory developments. Develops, implements, and conducts training of company personnel on import/export laws, regulations, policies

  • Familiarity with bonded warehouse and FTZ regulatory compliance

  • Responds to notices / inquiries from applicable government agencies. Participates in and is the primary point of contact during applicable external audits, inquiries, visits, investigations

  • Manages and oversees Copeland Trade Compliance Self-Assessments and Program Reviews

  • Implements and oversees audit methodology, conducts tests of compliance to company procedures

  • Manages and oversees activities including:

  • Embargo/sanction compliance

  • Export control screening activities (i.e. end-use, end-user, restricted party screening, red-flags, etc.)

  • Deemed export program

  • Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification

  • Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) assignment and licensing activities

  • Free trade agreement program participation (FTA)

  • Country of origin determination and marking

  • Partner government agency (PGA) requirements

  • Antidumping duty (ADD) and countervailing duty (CVD) monitoring and reporting

  • Automated clearing house (ACH) debit program

  • Boycott language reviews and reporting

  • Valuation for customs purposes (assist program, reconciliation program, scrap/repair/return values, etc.)

  • Routed export transaction program

  • Chapter 98 program

  • US customs broker scorecard and import compliance

  • Supports Copeland Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program

  • Supports Mexican plants trade compliance programs

  • Leads objective setting, measurement, reporting, organizational development, record retention, and process improvement in all areas International Trade Compliance

  • Oversees process and procedure development, implementation, and sustainability

  • Participates in and contributes to Copeland’s overall International Trade Compliance initiatives

  • Leads and maintains US Gatekeeper Program

  • Ability to gain knowledge and understanding of Canadian Customs and trade regulations

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade, supply chain, legal studies, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years with hands-on International Trade Compliance experience

  • Prior management experience leading direct reports

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret raw data

  • Ability to interpret and apply trade laws and regulations to every-day situations

  • Exceptional collaboration, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills required

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Graduate degree in business, international trade, supply chain, legal studies, or a related field.

  • US Customs Broker License, preferred

  • Experience with Oracle ERP and/or Oracle Global Trade Compliance Modules, preferred

Work Environment:

Employee will be exposed to moderate noise level. Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold. High forklift traffic.

Physical Requirements :

Employee must be able to sit for long periods of time.
