Responsible for ensuring accurate billing for timely submission of claims, monitoring claim status, investigating claim
denials/rejections, and documenting related account activities.

Major/Essential Functions:
Process weekly Hospital based service reports. In Athena IDX, this may include registering new accounts, updating established accounts, creating visits, identifying auth numbers, and verifying insurance eligibility
Process daily queries on portals to identify hospital-based services for billing
Process ETM tasks by verifying benefits, updating account information, correcting edits, performing follow-up on unpaid claims, billing or re-billing claims to appropriate payer source, and appealing denied claims
On rotating schedule, collect billing documents from various hospital and/or clinical locations
Print and mail Ceequence appeals saved on MPIP SharePoint
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Manager
Process Radiology accounts through the Fee Ticket portal
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork)

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of HIPAA billing guideline requirements
Bilingual: English/Spanish
Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of GE Centricity, SharePoint and Cerner
Knowledge of Medicare, Sate Medicaid and Commercial insurance product guideline billing requirements
Knowledge of current CPT Codes, ICD-9, ICD-10 and HCFA 1500
10 Key Calculator by touch
Ability to follow Texas Tech, State and Federal guidelines in conformity with policies and procedures
Experience with computers, Microsoft word and Excel
Analytical ability to comprehend, interpret and explain complex contract terms
Ability to work under stress and deadlines
Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of office staff personnel
Ability to make sound decisions and work effectively under stressful situations

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum 6 mos. experience with medical coding and/or billing
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding and/or experience with CMS regulations/industry standards
Demonstrated knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/10 codes and HCFA 1500.
