Position Description:

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provides patient care and diagnosis in all areas of Pediatrics to newborns, children, and adolescents

  • Examines patients to determine the presence of disease and establishes preventive health practices

  • Determines nature and extent of disease or injury

  • Prescribes and administer medications and immunizations

  • Precepts medical students and residents in the clinic and newborn nursery

  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties

  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations; adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

  • Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics for the rank of assistant professor or higher

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)

  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

  • Established track record in clinical service, teaching, and/or scholarship

Pay Statement:

Required Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign medical equivalent degree

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatrics residency program

  • Texas Medical licensure or eligible for Texas medical license
