Position Description:

Performs specialized work in conducting original research. Work is performed under general supervision with

evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. This position is funded

by department grants and dependent on grant funding availability.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Enrollment of study subjects. As required by protocol, reviews consent forms with study subjects. Reviews the required authorization to release medical information forms. Performs routine spot checks of study consent forms.

  • Conducts specific study activities delegated by Investigators, Research Director, Coordinator and Sponsors. Assists in preparing in-service training on study protocols and subject recruitment. Completes source documents and Case Report Forms (CRF’s). Performs data extraction from patient medical records.

  • Assists with the development, approval, and distribution of study related documents including Case Report Forms (CFRs), study protocols, study manuals, and other study tools. Assists with in-house IC review of clinical trials.

  • Assists in tracking and reporting on study progress including patient enrollment/screening data collection, and Adverse Event documentation.

  • Prepares questionnaires, consent forms and modification forms. Coordinates closely with the Institutional Review Board. Prepares and submits additional modification protocols; consent forms; surveys and any other attachments or revisions using the institutions electronic internet Information Research System (iRIS).

  • Assists in maintaining and updating the Master Regulatory Binder containing research related records and credentialing for the department, i.e., HIPAA, NIH, CITI records, financial disclosure forms and CV’s.

  • Assists in compiling data for quarterly and final reports to be presented to clinical trial sponsors; performs systemic and independent audits of trial related activities. Prepares report findings to principal investigators and study personnel.

  • Assists the department head or administrator in coordinating special projects associated with Research Division.

  • Assists in collecting study data to formulate research posters and attends sponsor annual meetings as needed.

  • Assists in coordinating research division meetings and annual research events as needed..

  • Provide staff coverage during evening and weekend shifts or as needed.

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

  • Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent English grammar and spelling skills.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, be a team player, display flexibility, detailed oriented, and be reliable and punctual.

  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and the general public with strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment, and coordinate with colleagues at varying organizational levels.

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Ability to complete data entry accurately and communicate closely with supervisor.

  • Good organization skills.

  • Knowledge of procedures and medications relevant to the clinical research trial.

  • General knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Ability to follow and understand both treatment and non-treatment protocols.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

  • Familiarity with local hospitals.

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and computer skills.

  • Ability to make sound decisions.

  • Will have to work after regular business hours and weekends.

  • Experience in social, behavioral, medical, or health services research preferred.

  • Experience in working with clinical trials or similar is preferred.

  • Experience in collecting data with surveys and obtaining consent is preferred.

  • Experience in handling biologic specimens is preferred. May have to work after hours.

  • Able to read,write, and speak Spanish proficiently.

Pay Statement:
